I grew up in Chattanooga and took art lessons at the Hunter Museum starting at age eight. I won numerous art judgings, showed at the Baalbek Art Show & Sale at Cumberland College, and received regular press coverage. I created the educational campaign for the TB & Respiratory Diseases Association, “Dr. Respiratory.”
Inspired by local Chattanooga artist Hubert Shuptrine.
Worked for George Little and Tony Mines at Little Art Shop on Fraizer Ave., Chattanooga, while in high school. Advised by the Hunter Museum director Bud Bishop to attend East Tennessee State University in 1972. Won an art scholarship competition at ETSU and graduated BFA magna cum laude in 1976. I continued painting in watercolor while working as an advertising art director.
I moved to Columbus, OH, was accepted into the Central Ohio Watercolor Society, and placed in The Ohio State Fair Arts Exhibition. I took 37 years off to devote to my career and family. Resumed painting during the pandemic in 2020. Exhibited in High Country Art, Blue Ridge, GA. Attended Plein Air Convention & Expo in Denver, CO, and Cherokee, NC, plus numerous Plein Air events. Joined Virginia Highlands Plein Air Group in Atlanta
